Scout's Cookout in Coral Gables
Saturday, October 18 from noon to 4pm

Come to the historic George Merrick Scout House for the annual scout cookout family event. Bring a friend to share the fun.

The scouts will be cooking BBQ, making hamburgers and hot dogs, serving delicious side dishes and drinks -- plus a special treat -- ice cream for everyone from Cold Stone Creamery.

The scout property, located in the middle of the Granada Golf Course, was eastablished by George Merrick in the 1920s. He built a pine log cabin for his scouts from trees fallen in the great hurricane of 1926.

The scout house is home to the Pack 7 Cub Scouts, Troop 7 Boy Scouts, and the Girl Scouts of Troop 7, Troop 48 and Troop 950.

For the past 8 decades, this has been a special place for kids to enjoy programs that emphasize self-reliance, outdoor skills, patriotism and leadership training, within a rustic environment in the midst of Coral Gables.

Directions
Three blocks north of Coral Way, one block west of Granada Blvd. Take the driveway into the middle of the golf course.
